The Purpose of the German Shepherd Dog Association of Central Indiana, Inc. is to educate dog owners, especially German Shepherd Dog owners, and the general public, regarding the health, welfare, and behavior of dogs. Specifically, to promote and assist in creating companion dogs, good canine citizens in families, sport, the general public, including but not limited to sports under the rules of the American Kennel Club (AKC), All Breed Herding Association (ABHA), and the German Shepherd Dog Club of America (GSDCA/parent club) and other dog organizations. Monies may be raised, and additional educational events held at these events to provide for the below purposes. Our Association is organized and operated exclusively for charitable scientific and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as amended (Code). In furtherance of these charitable purposes shall include the following:

(1) To provide and engage in service programs to enable the veterinary profession to better serve the public at large and to generally improve animal health, maintenance, welfare care, and control in the community;

(2) To promote, support, and conduct charitable scientific and/or educational activities in Indiana by qualifying under Section 501 (C) (3) of the Code;

​

(3) To make gifts, grants, or donations to other exempt charitable organizations, and to promote and support the charitable, scientific, and educational activities of other exempt charitable organizations;

​

(4) To engage in such pursuits as may be necessary or incidental, or which may aid and assist, in carrying out the Association’s purposes; and

​

(5) To have and exercise all rights and powers conferred on nonprofit corporations, provided; however, that the Association shall not engage in any activities or exercise any powers prohibited by the Articles of Incorporation, the AKC, or the GSDCA.
